How a Cancer Herbalist Saves Lives – Treating Cancer Using Herbal Medicine
In this article, I’ll tackle some of the more popular types of cancer herbalist treatments. We’ll also discuss some pros and cons, as well as the safest way to use herbal medicine to heal your cancer. But first, let’s talk about herbal medicine in general, where it derived from and what it is today.
Now, let’s start with the basics. Herbal medicine is, as its name clearly says, using herbs and plants for medicinal purposes. Herbalism was the main method of treating illnesses, before the rise of the modern medicine and pharmaceutical industry that we know today.
It emerged 60,000 years ago, way before the dawn of chemistry. Sumerians, Egyptians, Greeks, and many other ancient civilizations have all practiced herbal medicine. The earliest evidence of this record dates back to over 5000 years ago.
Today, the estimated number of people that still use herbal medicine is over 80 percent. Some Asian and African countries even utilize herbal medicine in their primary health care. Besides that, over 25% of medication from the US is plant-based.
Cancer patients are usually the ones who opt for herbal medicine and visit a cancer herbalist. The reason for this is because the standard treatment is rather aggressive and also unreliable. But, more on that later.
Traditional western herbal medicine, or the Galenic medicine, evolved from the Egyptian and Middle Eastern medicine. The name ‘Galenic’ originates from the Greek physician Galen. He was one of the first people to establish actual medical theories. Together with Hippocrates, Galen made western medicine one of the most popular in the world. It quickly spread all over Europe and later even further.
An insert from Hippocrates’ medical journal Corpus says that food and drinks have a strong impact on a person’s state. Also, he often mentions the concepts of moisture and temperature of the body. That’s what he actually based his 4 temperaments theory on. For example, Melancholics would be dry and cold, as opposed to Sanguines who are moist and hot.
When it comes to herbs, Hippocrates divided them into 4 different levels of ‘hot’ and ‘cold.’ This way, he would know which herb helps with which disease. He used this method to help his patients. Along with that, he gave additional dietary and lifestyle advice.
Chinese medicinal practices date back to the 3rd century BC. The entirety of the East has adopted traditional Chinese medicine. Later on, it spread to the West, too. It had a major impact on today’s medicine, as well.
The main concept is that all of life is based on balance – the Yin and Yang concept. An imbalance in the person’s system causes illnesses. A good Chinese doctor has to be able to fully understand the Yin Yang concept in order to diagnose a person correctly. He/she has to take all of the patient’s aspects of life in consideration.
Traditional Chinese medicine also uses tai chi, massages, acupuncture, and other alternative methods.
Now, when it comes to Chinese herbal medicine specifically, these techniques are still used today effectively. They are said to cure everything; from psychological problems, skin problems, HIV, bronchitis, to chronic diseases such as diabetes, asthma, and cancer.
Many patients find the conventional modern methods such as chemotherapy too aggressive, so they turn to herbal medicine. Aside from having horrible side-effects (hair loss, vomiting, fatigue, etc.), conventional methods have also shown to be unsuccessful for some patients.
That’s why they decided to go the unconventional way and visit a cancer herbalist. After all, there have been several recorded cases of successfully cured cancer patients. In addition, there are some doctors that actually recommend including herbal medicine in the conventional treatment. It’s certainly worth a visit to a cancer herbalist. However, make sure to ask your doctor about this first. We’ll talk about this more in the following paragraphs.
Herbal medicine usually involves a mix of plants or plant extracts. These herbs are used in multiple ways – in liquid (tea) form, cream, etc. They can also serve as a dietary supplement.
The preparation of the herb remedy depends on the plant itself – each has a different preparation. The goal is to get the most of the plant and thus create the most effective remedy. Some plants work best in hot water, some in cold, and some require draining or distillation. Other treatments include inhalation for breathing problems, tablets, balm or oil application for skin problems, etc. Tinctures, or alcoholic plant extracts, are also a popular method.
The cancer herbalist knows which herb will help with the disease. And not just that – he/she also must know which part of the plant to prepare, as well as the best suitable method.
Upon your first visit to a herbalist, you may expect a physical exam that includes pulse and blood pressure feeling, a visual exam of your skin, nails, tongue, eyes, etc.
As I mentioned earlier, your doctor needs to know if you are taking any herbal medication besides the one he/she prescribed you. The reason for this is pretty straightforward – you could be endangering yourself. Although herbs may not be advertised as powerful medication, they can be effective, in both a good and bad way. That’s especially true if they are combined with stronger medication.
If not used correctly, they can induce an allergic reaction, headaches, dizziness, skin inflammation, and insomnia. Some of the more severe consequences are liver damage, psychosis, blood clotting, etc. Even if used correctly, they can be quite dangerous. They can cure one disease but create another one. That’s why herbal medicine has to be done carefully and by professionals.
Research has been done a few times in order to prove the effectiveness of herbal medicine. However, results were not strong enough to support the theory fully. Moreover, most scientists today usually cringe at the thought of alternative herbal medicine.
Then again, there have been documented cases in which herbal medicine worked. A great number of doctors today don’t recommend it, but they agree that it can have some positive effects. They can certainly help reduce consequences of strong and invasive procedures and treatments of cancer, prevent it from coming back, etc.
A common misconception among people is that herbs can’t really be harmful. But, as I said in one of the previous paragraphs, herbs can be extremely dangerous if not properly used. Cancer patients have to be even more careful. There have been many cases of herbal medication interfering with regular cancer therapy.
So, how can you actually be sure that it’s safe to take a certain herbal drug?
First of all, you have to consult your doctor. He can tell you what medication is safe to use. Second of all, the medication you buy has to be of excellent quality and natural. It’s best to go to a highly qualified herbal medicine practitioner or cancer herbalist for this. He/she will prescribe you the right medicine. Also, your herbalist must inform you about the therapy in detail: what the ingredients of the medication are, what the correct dosage is and all the possible side effects you might experience.
Note: If you plan on purchasing herbal medication in Europe, look for those that have the THR (Traditional Herbal Remedies) stamp. Those are the only legal and approved ones.
Also referred to as Amygdalin or Vitamin B17, Laetrile is an alternative cancer treatment. It comes from many plants and foods: apricot seeds, apples, peaches, and plums. Allegedly, Laetrile finds and kills cancerous cells, while also reinforcing the immune system so it can withstand the fight.
Although it sounds amazing, many doctors, scientists, and even cancer herbalists advise against Laetrile. Some even go to the extremes and say that it’s a hoax.
Laetrile is made of glucose and two more substances that have been suspected to be highly toxic.
Manipulating pH Levels Through Diet
Nowadays, an average person’s pH level is a bit more on the alkaline side (around 7.4). This number changed over time. With the rise of agriculture, people started ingesting more vegetables and plants.
Recently, scientists have started paying more attention to pH levels in the human body. That’s when Alkaline diets started being more popular.
Again, there’s no scientific proof that supports this method, but there has been some positive feedback. These pH diets were said to help with chronic diseases like bone diseases, strokes, back pain, etc.
The most important part is that it helps with the effectiveness of chemotherapy. It does so by boosting some chemotherapeutic agents that call for a higher, more alkaline, pH level.
Cannabis oil is probably one of the most famous and most controversial alternative methods ever. Studies did not show any clear results, so scientists have divided opinions. The anti-cancer effects were not that explicit, but there is proof that cannabis oil helps with cancer and chemotherapy side effects such as nausea, lack of appetite and pain.
Cannabis oil is gaining in popularity every day. More and more people are trying it today. It’s most common among cancer patients that turned to cannabis oil because the standard cancer treatments didn’t help them.
If you do decide to try cannabis oil too, just make sure to consult your doctor and a cancer herbalist first.
